The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

Streaking and Slumping Pitchers

Streaking

Colby Lewis, Texas Rangers (7-4, 3.07 ERA)

The Rangers righty has won three straight starts heading into Friday’s outing with the Houston Astros. Lewis has allowed only four runs on nine hits in 24.0 innings of work. National League teams are hitting just .187 against him including Houston, which fell 5-1 to Texas last Saturday. Lewis pitched 9.0 innings, allowing only one run on two hits.

C.C. Sabathia, New York Yankees (8-3, 3.68 ERA)

The Yankees hefty lefty is heating up, winning four straight starts heading into Friday’s contest with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Sabathia has given up eight runs on 21 hits over 29 innings in that span. In his most recent appearance, he went 8.0 innings, allowing just four hits in a 4-0 shutout against the Mets.

Debuting

Aaron Laffey (0-1, 5.61 ERA)

The Tribe are throwing Laffey into the rotation with David Huff heading to Triple-A. The left-hander has been honing his skills as a starter in Triple-A Columbus while working out of Cleveland’s bullpen for the majority of the MLB season. Laffey hasn’t been overly sharp in 2010, allowing six runs in just 1.1 innings against the Yankees in his last relief outing on May 29. He made 19 starts in 2009, posting a 7-9 record and ERA of 4.44.

Hot Lines: Today's best MLB bets

Houston Astros at Texas Rangers (-320, 9.5)

As we all are aware here in the Covers community, a little bet can go a long way.

For the Texas Rangers, a friendly hairstyle wager between Elvis Andrus and General Manager Jon Daniels sparked its longest winning streak since 1991. Daniels was giving his young shortstop grief about his blonde highlights on June 12 so Andrus asked his boss how many wins in a row it would take for him to dye his hair.

"I said 10, figuring the odds of that were pretty long," said Daniels. "Talk about putting one's foot in their mouth. I was hoping he'd forget, but no such luck. It's not going to be a good look."

It sounds as if the Rangers’ clubhouse and management are having fun this season, and the team’s success reflects that. Texas has won 10 straight (+11.1 units) and 17 of its last 21 games.

Colby Lewis recorded nine strikeouts in a one-run complete game effort last Saturday against the Astros. The ace of the Texas staff is 3-0 in his last three starts and bettors should expect another shutdown performance Friday.

The Strangers were underdogs in the first five games of their win streak but were listed as no less than -135 chalk in the second handful of wins. While this game’s moneyline is too pricy for most bettors, Texas has only failed to cover the runline in three of its last 17 victories and should have no problem doing so here.

Pick: Rangers runline (-160)

San Diego Padres at Florida Marlins (-120, 8.5)

Every bettor knows it but a change of scenery, or management, can produce profitable results.

Florida fired manager Fredi Gonzalez Wednesday morning and replaced him with Triple-A coach Edwin Rodriguez. In his managerial debut, Rodriguez led the Marlins to a 7-5 comeback win over the Orioles.

"A win tonight was big, especially for Edwin because it was his first game,” said outfielder Chris Coghlan. “There were a lot of mixed emotions."

Likely the only emotion exuded by Hanley Ramirez was ecstasy. The All-Star shortstop was benched by Gonzalez earlier this year and the two never saw eye-to-eye in the former manager’s three-and-a-half seasons with the club. Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a run scored Wednesday.

After his first big league victory, Rodriguez was presented with the game ball, lineup card and a bottle of champagne to commemorate the occasion. The Fins have won three straight and should stay focused under the regime of their new skipper.

Pick: Marlins

Lady Luck: Today's WNBA best bets

Phoenix Mercury at Connecticut Sun (-4.5, 186.5)

The defending WNBA champs will be out for revenge when they visit the Connecticut Sun Friday. The Mercury lost 96-94 to the Sun in their most recent outing Sunday, failing to cover as 5-point favorites.

Phoenix battled back from being 21 points down in that game, scoring 27 points in the fourth quarter. The loss dropped the Mercury to 5-7 with a 4-8 mark against the spread on the year.

"We lost because we didn't come out hard in the first half and third quarter," head coach Corey Gaines told reporters. "It's funny, I think it was just getting the rebounds and going. Just straight solid defense. Get the stop, get the rebound and go instead of them getting a put-back after the first stop."

Phoenix has lost back-to-back games and has watched their defense slip to 12th in the WNBA. The Sun, on the other hand, are one of the best defensive teams in the league and have been solid inside Mohegan Sun Arena.

Pick: Connecticut

Indiana Fever at Seattle Storm (-6, 143)

The Seattle Storm haven’t lost in seven games inside Key Arena, picking up win No. 7 over the San Antonio Silver Stars Sunday night.

However, they welcome the Fever to the Emerald City Friday – a team that handed the Storm just their second loss of the season a little over a week ago.

"Their defense is good and I think we started off the game great, but then they kind of turned it up a little bit and it kind of frustrated us and put us back on our heels," Seattle guard Sue Bird told the Seattle Post Intelligencer. "Whenever you're playing tentatively, you're going to have turnovers because you're not aggressive and that's what happened."

Bird was back at practice this week after injuring her knee Sunday. Bird is averaging 12 points and six assists this season. She and her teammates are set on revenge Friday night.

Pick: Seattle

WNBA NEWS AND NOTES
Mercury-Sun Preview
By Alan Ferguson -STATS Writer

Phoenix Mercury & Connecticut Sun

(AP) -- It's been nearly two years since the Phoenix Mercury lost three games in a row. How well they contain red-hot rookie Tina Charles could determine whether they prevent that from happening again.

The Mercury couldn't stop Charles in a home loss earlier this week, but they'll try again Friday night in a matchup with the Connecticut Sun to start a three-game eastern road trip.

Phoenix claimed its second WNBA title in three years in 2009 but has struggled at the start of this season, giving up a league-high 92.5 points per game. Despite averaging a league-best 93.4 points, the Mercury often have little margin for error.

In their past two defeats, they've lost by a combined five points while giving up an average of 102.0. Continuing that trend could send Phoenix (5-7) to three consecutive defeats for the first time since July 10-15, 2008, and four straight on the road for the first time since a six-game skid July 6-Sept. 9 of that season.

Slowing down Charles could be the key to avoid extending both losing streaks.
Connecticut's leading scorer and this year's No. 1 overall draft pick has averaged 21.3 points and 15.7 rebounds over the last three games. She helped the Sun (8-4) earn their first victory in Phoenix in five years Sunday by scoring 24 points, including the deciding free throws with 1:17 remaining.

Sandrine Gruda added a season-high 21 points, Renee Montgomery matched a career high with 19 and Charles grabbed 12 rebounds in the 96-94 win, which ended a five-game slide to the Mercury. Diana Taurasi had 24 points and Penny Taylor contributed 23 for Phoenix, which fell short after trailing by 21 in the third quarter.

"You can take the eight minutes of good basketball, but we have to look at the other side: 32 minutes of not looking very good," said Taurasi, whose team has scored at least 91 points in five consecutive games.

Charles had 14 points and 16 rebounds Tuesday night against Chicago, but the Sun saw their eight-game home winning streak end with an 86-77 loss. After scoring 28 points in the second quarter, Connecticut had 29 in the second half.

"We played bad basketball that I've been worried about for two days," coach Mike Thibault said. "Chicago played a great second half. They defended, and we didn't."

Thibault's club now tries to improve to 5-0 this season against the Western Conference, which has one team above .500 - league-best Seattle.

The Sun, though, have dropped consecutive home matchups with the Mercury after winning three of four following their move from Orlando in 2003.

Taurasi has averaged 24.4 points in the past five overall meetings with Connecticut but has averaged 18.3 - nearly two below her career mark - in her last three trips to the state where she starred in college.

SOCCER NEWS AND NOTES
What Bettors Need To Know: Spain vs. Chile
By Covers Staff

Spain vs. Chile

Odds: Spain (-212), Chile (+735); Spread Spain -1 (-124); Over/under (2.5)

Spain and Chile battle it out in Group H with advancement into the knockout stage on the line.

What’s At Stake

Chile sit atop the group with six points while Spain are in second place with three points and ahead of Switzerland on goal differential. The Swiss are favored to beat Honduras in the other Group H match, meaning that neither Chile nor Spain are assured of a spot into the next round if they lose Friday.

First place in the group also avoids drawing Brazil in the Round of 16.

"For us it's clear what we have to do — we have to beat Chile," Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta told the Associated Press. "We've got a clear idea about what we need to do and we're confident of reaching the next round. Nothing else is important."

Style Of Play And Match Strategy

Chile have been arguably the most entertaining team to watch so far this tournament. Their 3-3-1-3 formation has created an abundance of scoring chances but La Roja have netted just two goals in two games.

Spain love to dominate possession and their left and right back defenders are eager to jump in on the attack. The Red Fury are comfortable playing different alignments but should roll out in a traditional 4-4-2 against Chile.

All the prognostications suggest this should be a high-scoring affair because both teams prefer to possess and attack rather than play defensively and rely on counterattacks for goals.

“They are going to come out attacking and we're going to apply our own way of playing," Chile winger Mark Gonzalez told reporters. "All of our attention is on reaching the next round and finishing first (in the group)."

Players To Watch

Fernando Torres, Spain

The Liverpool striker is struggling to find his form with Spain. He missed a large part of the EPL season after undergoing knee surgery in January and didn’t start in Spain’s first match. He played the first 70 minutes against Honduras but was largely ineffective.

He missed three golden opportunities to get on the scoreboard in that last match but his manager is convinced Torres’ finishing touch will return.

"You've got to believe that he will find his accuracy," Vincente del Bosque said.

Some observers suggest Spain’s best formation is with David Villa as the single striker and throwing in another attacking winger like David Silva or Jesus Navas. That was the alignment Spain started with against Switzerland and the Red Fury failed to find the back of the net.

“Villa and I have said we understand each other perfectly and hopefully we can play together again, although we've always said that if we don't then it doesn't matter as long as the team works well,” Torres told media members.

Torres and Villa have a combined 64 goals for Spain since 2003.

Alexis Sanchez, Chile

The Udinese international is the key for Chile. The 22-year-old forward excels at pushing the ball up the wing and his play has caught the attention of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

His swift pace and clever moves have some comparing the youngster to Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I think (Ronaldo’s) one of the best players in the world, but I’m Alexis Sanchez,” he told Sky Sports. “I’m not Cristiano and I shouldn’t be compared to Cristiano. I want to make my mark in the World Cup.”

Spain have all kinds of speed on their flanks but Sanchez could expose their backline when Sergio Ramos and Joan Capdevila pinch in on the attack.

Other News And Notes To Know

Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta will return to the starting lineup after sitting out against Honduras because of a leg injury. Iniesta fits seamlessly with Barcelona teammate Xavi in Spain’s midfield. The pair excels at maintaining possession and is pin-point accurate with their passing.

Meanwhile, Chile manager Marcelo Bielsa will be without midfielders Carlos Carmona and Matias Fernandez because of suspension.

"Sometimes (new players) bring freshness and have more energy," Bielsa said. "But most of the time they suffer to find their rhythm."

Spain and Chile last played in 2008 with the European side winning 3-0. Each side has played under the total in their first two games at the 2010 World Cup.

PICKS FOR KICKS

Friday’s Best World Cup Bets

Brazil (+130) vs. Portugal (+277, 2.5)

Portugal’s 7-0 trouncing of North Korea took away much of the anticipation involving this matchup. What was originally thought to be the deciding match in the Group of Death is now just a result that could determine who’ll finish first or second.

Making matters worse, Kaka – Brazil’s premier playmaker – will miss this one because of suspension while Portugal midfielder Deco is expected to miss his second straight match due to injury.

Kaka might not be the only Brazil starter watching Friday’s contest. The Selecao have already secured their place in the next round and may rest several players from their No. 1 lineup.

Brazil coach Dunga has a number of excellent options on his bench so the quality of play shouldn’t slip much at all for the World Cup faves. Both teams expect Spain to beat Chile and attain the top spot in Group H. That means the runner up in this match will likely face Spain in the next round, something neither side wants to do this early on.

“This final group game is important for us to finish first,” Kaka told the PA. “A draw would also be good but a win would give us the strength to go into the knockout round really motivated.”

Pick: Brazil

Switzerland (-197) at Honduras (+675, 2.5)

Honduras passes the eye-ball test for team most overmatched at this year’s World Cup. The Central American side haven’t bested in all phases in their matches and those that have watched their matches know the games haven’t been nearly as close as the scores indicate.

The Swiss prefer to counterattack and load up defensively but they’ll be tempted to push forward more against Honduras’ sloppy midfield play.

The Nati also know a win might not be enough to get them into the next round. They will be pushing to better their goal differential to edge them past Spain or Chile.

Pick: Over

AFL NEWS AND NOTES
Arena Football League: Battle Wings At Storm
By Scott Cooley

Bossier Battle Wings at Tampa Bay Storm (-16, 112), 8 p.m. ET

This Friday’s Arena Football game of the week on the NFL Network features two teams trending in opposite directions.

Tampa Bay (7-3 SU, 4-6 ATS) is one of the hottest teams in the AFL as it comes into this affair riding a five-game winning streak. On the other end of the spectrum, the boys from the Bayou have dropped eight of their last nine games with three of those losses coming by 19 points or more.

“We really have to leave the past in the past and play this week’s game,” said Bossier (3-8 SU, 5-6 ATS) coach Jon Norris. “Our players and our coaching staff have to focus on winning games, one game at a time.”

The Sequel

These squads met down in Cajun Country during Week 7 and the Storm put together a fourth-quarter rally to squeak out a 48-44 victory as 5-point favorites.

Tampa Bay gunslinger Brett Dietz had a career night against a less-than-average BattleWings defense, completing 34-of-40 passes for 395 yards and six touchdowns. He did so without the services of the team’s leading wide receiver, Hank Edwards, who will be active for tonight’s game.

The Storm’s win served as the turning point in the season with the team failing to drop a decision since.

“(Coach) Tim Marcum’s teams tend to get better as the season progresses,” said Covers Expert Ted Sevransky. “If they aren’t good in April, they certainly have it going by July.”

Bossier was able to neutralize some of Tampa’s offensive attack in the game by picking up big chunks of yardage on the ground. Byron Douzart rumbled for 74 yards and a score, but the BattleWings cut the fullback and signed a pure rusher, Jason “The Mule” Schule, on Wednesday.

Hey Rookie!

The BattleWings’ season begin to spiral downward when the team lost starting quarterback Raymond Philyaw in Week 8. After not dressing a backup signal-caller for that game, Bossier was forced stick wideout Randy Hymes under center and the offense struggled mightily, eventually losing the game 56-19.

In the next four games, rookie Kinsmon Lancaster and veteran Gary Cooper split duties at quarterback but neither proved to be effective. Bossier will roll the dice this week with its fifth option under center – former LSU quarterback Jimmy Welker.

Welker hasn’t started a game since his senior season of high school in 2003 and doesn’t have any experience playing indoor football. The 6-4, 250-pound California native has been practicing with the ‘Wings for several weeks.

"We've struggled offensively in the second half of our last two games," Bossier coach Jon Norris said. "We've seen some good things out of Jimmy in practice, so we decided to give him a chance to see what he can do."

Tampa Bay expects to see a lot of one-step and three-step drops from the rookie Welker. This will make it tough for the Storm’s rushing four to get pressure on the quarterback which will put an even greater emphasis on the team’s secondary play. The addition of Bossier’s new fullback might also indicate another heavy dose of running.

Storming Defense

Tampa’s turnaround can be attributed to a renewed effort on the defensive side of the ball. The Storm have held four of its last five opponents to fewer than 50 points and stymied Utah for a season-low in points in last week’s 65-40 road victory.

The Storm secondary, which is expected to be tested with quick passes Friday, has collected five interceptions and nearly 30 pass breakups in its last three games. Defensive back Eric McIntosh, who will be playing in his fourth career arena league game, has picked off one pass in each of the last two games.

"We run mostly dude coverage," Coach Marcum said. "We say, 'You cover that dude, and you cover that dude.’”

Tampa Bay is 139-41 all time when holding its opponent to 50 points or fewer and the BattleWings have failed to eclipse that number in five of their last six outings.

Home-Field Advantage?

The Storm pack the St. Pete Times Forum like no other team in the AFL. Tampa Bay’s home arena averages the largest attendance (14,349) in the league but does it create a decisive home-field advantage?

“We have the largest AFL arena and the second-largest hockey arena in the country,” said a Storm spokesman, who expects Friday’s game to be a sellout. “So the environment some AFL venues create, where the fans are on top of the field, isn’t duplicated in Tampa.”

And while most AFL teams have benefitted from a local officiating crew when playing at home, the Storm have actually been penalized more than the opposition in Tampa this season.

The BattleWings have recorded only one road victory this season (1-5 SU and ATS) and league play last week saw the home teams go 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS.

Stat Pack

- Bossier has been one of the most vulnerable defenses in the AFL in 2010, giving up the second-highest averages in points per game (63.6) and yards per game (326.3).

- Tampa Bay is the most penalized team in the league, yielding 80.6 yards per game in yellow flags.

- The Storm have registered 14.0 sacks this season compared to 6.0 sacks for Bossier.

- The BattleWings have allowed 18.0 sacks, the third-worst mark in the league, while Tampa Bay has only given up 4.0 sacks.

Hondo

It took a little while but Hondo's debt spiraled into four figures yesterday when the 'Stros spanked the Giants to push the deficit to a chunky 1,060 kerfelds.

Tonight, he'll try to start digging out with a pair of big 'dogs -- 10 units apiece on the Jays and Astros. Also, 10 on the Metamucils.
